The Dolomites strongly shape the impressive landscape of South Tyrol and it’s these massive summits which surround the Snowpark Alta Badia, forming a uniquely beautiful alpine setting. Soon, the winter sun will be shining onto the white glistening peaks again, the yearning for snow will finally be satisfied and a new season at the sunniest of snowparks in the Dolomites will kick off.

Sun and warm temperatures welcomed enthusiastic spectators to ModenaFiere to witness the first urban rail contest in the history of the World Rookie Tour. Set up was definitely one of the Europe’s best urban rail set in the last years, designed and built by the wise shapers of F-tech Company based in South Tyrol.

World Rookie Tour has rarely been easy, mainly thanks to the presence of all the best youth events across the world, but for the 2017 the Black Yeti has decided to raise the bar and reach another goal: to improve the tour that already represents a benchmark on the snowboarding youth competitions, implementing a new format and location for the end of season 2017 World Rookie Finals.

The Zillertal Välley Rälley hosted by Ride Snowboards could not have had a better start into the new season. With bluebird and perfect conditions, Hintertux Glacier welcomed its guests for the kick-off of the popular Snowboard Amateur Series on October 15th and 16th, 2016. Snowboard fun for everyone and smiling faces all over the Betterpark Hintertux were on top of the agenda of this epic weekend in Tux Finkenberg.

The final day of the 2016 Cardrona Games staged at Cardrona Alpine Resort near Wanaka, New Zealand featured a strong international contingent, including some home-grown Kiwi talent, competing in the resort's 22ft high Olympic superpipe with Japanese riders standing out with their trick variety and amplitude.

Thredbo Resort, with thanks to Burton Snowboards, hosted a new kind of rail contest, Jye’s Jam. It’s not every day that a ski resort lets you take over for a night and run an urban rail comp, so we had a good feeling about this one.

The Black Yeti announced the final stop for its new season: Volkl Rookie Finals in Ischgl will take place from the 4th to the 9th of April 2017. The next season is going to be bigger than ever. Tour stops have been confirmed in Chile, Australia and Italy, some of which are new to the World Rookie Tour.

2016 season was the largest edition ever! Black Yeti is almost ready to announce 2017 World Rookie Tour but before that, he would love to share with all the WRT fans some stats. From the first event in 2005, World Rookie Tour has grown faster than any other youth event and hundreds of young riders joined it. Today, the World Rookie Tour is one of the greatest sport events dedicated to young snowboarders and their families, with more than 1079 riders participating, from 35 different Nations.

The winners of the final Slopestyle contest of the Europa Cup tour, also counting as official Swiss nationals, have been named. Elena Koenz and Moritz Thoenen have become the 2016 Swiss Slopestyle national champions and Sofya Federova and Emiliano Lauzi secured the Europa Cup titles.
