The competitive snowboard season 2016/17 is behind us. It was filled with amazing moments of progression, creativity, consistency and upsets. Riders travelled the globe to compete at Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Big Air events, always collecting WSPL points. Today we are crowning the 2016/17 WSPL Champions.

Introduced in 2016, the SSA Park and Pipe Series brings together five competitive events that have been running independently of each other for many years. Through international sanctioning with the Association of Free Ski Professionals (AFP), the World Snowboard Tour (WST), and the International Ski Federation (FIS), the series supports a comprehensive national competition pathway where every athlete registered for the series will be added to the World Ranking lists.

When all parks around you are closed, the season at Superpark Dachstein is just starting! About 35 obstacles are awaiting you there and all of them have been extensively tested at last weekend’s Girls Shred Session. To cut a long story short: The girls rated it “shredable” and - thanks to an excellent coaching - they are now highly motivated to keep working on their skills.

Effective immediately, the two powerhouses of competitive and grass roots snowboarding, TTR Pro Snowboarding (TTR) and the World Snowboard Federation (WSF) have decided to become united and form one joint organisation.

Calling all girls: Season is not over yet, because on May 20, we´ll be shredding at Superpark Dachstein all day long. The Girls Shred Sessions are back! That means you’ll be conquering the setup together with other like-minded girls, in order to unleash plenty of new moves with a little help of professional coaches.

10th QParks Snowboard Tour Stop, 30/04/2017, Superpark Dachstein, Schladming-Dachstein Region, Austria. Dachstein was calling: The finals on April 30 marked both the conclusion of the QParks Snowboard Tour and a dignified start of the glacier spring sessions the same time. After a contest journey all the way through Austria, Italy and Switzerland, the riders were welcomed with bluebird and a challenging pro kicker line for the final showdown. Accordingly stoked were the riders of the jam-packed setup.

As heavy snowfalls and wind are predicted for the weekend, the final stop of 2016/17 QParks Snowboard Tour the Oakley Roof Battle at Superpark Dachstein had to be postponed to 30th April.

Takeru Otsuka (JPN) and Kokomo Murase (JPN) are Slopestyle World Rookie Champions 2017. Chase Blackwell (USA) and Sena Tomita (JPN) won the Halfpipe contest.

10th QParks Tour Stop, 22.04.2017, Superpark Dachstein, Dachstein, Austria. After stops in Austria, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, it is time for the QParks Snowboard Tour to return to its roots. This year’s contest season started off for the snowboarders at Superpark Dachstein with the Pleasure Jam and that’s exactly where it will end on April, 22 with the Oakley Roof Battle. A total of 37 riders qualified for the final showdown at Dachstein. They will shred for cash and goodies, worth a total of 4.500€. To ensure an all-around great day, riders will indulge in open public park, free BBQ and sweet beats.

The public voting is done, the QParks jury has come to a decision and a host of messenger pigeons has dropped the rider jury’s decisions above the QParks headquarter. That means: We are ready for the backpack-and-beer-ceremony!

Goodies and cash for the best tricks, beats and BBQ for all: This was Shred Poker in Schöneben at Reschenpass. The crew built up a high class Multihit especially for this session – and the riders were outdoing each other in height, rotation and creativity.

Sounds nice? Well it definitely was! Starting from stylish Straight Airs, Flips and 900° Spins in all directions, to the trial of tearing up the special obstacle with a snow skate – on this Sunday 26, we’ve seen it all. Motivated locals and park fanatics demonstrated their very best tricks and totally swept the board. Young and old freestylers were battling for poker chips and sick prizes.

Shred enthusiasm has no limits, neither age nor sex – this has been approved by the girls at the Blue Tomato Girls Day. Together, they conquered the Blue Tomato Kings Park at Hochkönig past Saturday, on March 25. And even the youngest gals demonstrated that they can easily keep up with the setup.

How sick was that jib-spectacle going down at Seebuck last weekend? Super-motivated guys and girls showed up and fought for cash and goodies for tricks while enjoying the spring-like bluebird.

Is there anything better than chilling at the homebase with other shred heads whilst riding a sweet jib line? No? Well, we’re at one then. Some of the Feldberg locals share this attitude and gathered at Seebuck for some nice collective shredding. It was a beautiful day, the girls and boys were highly motivated – so we sent our media crew to capture the session.

A decade of freestyle action at Gastein! Obviously, this calls for a celebration - two highlights mark this special occasion – firstly, the Shred Poker will take place at the park this weekend and, secondly, the crew was carrying out a proper shred fest last week after some massive snowfall and the involved reconstruction works. There certainly was no need for cake or champagne – as the expression “shred fest” already indicates, shredding their park was the crew’s main focus! We’d like to take a look back on the Snowpark Gastein’s 10 years of history and check out current setup in the brand-new video.

8th QParks Snowboard Tour Stop, 11/03/2017, SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn, Schilthorn, Switzerland. One meter of fresh powder was challenging the shapers of the SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn just before the eighth QParks Tour 2016/17 was about to go down. So they grabbed their shovels and began with the Hercules task of getting the park contest-ready. The effort paid off. On Saturday March 11, 2017 the riders met in the sunny SKYLINE SNOWPARK Schilthorn 2,400 meters above sea level to glorify the imposing backdrop with their best tricks.

Kitzbühel is certainly one of the ski resorts with the richest history; it is the birthplace of countless ski racers and home of the world’s most dangerous downhill run. And if that isn’t enough, there are also numerous kilometers of slopes, freeride routes and the Snowpark Kitzbühel waiting to be discovered by all the passionate winter sports enthusiasts. 9th QParks Snowboard Tour Stop, 18/03/2017, badenova Snowpark Feldberg, Feldberg, Germany. The journey continues and takes the QParks Snowboard Tour family to its next destination – Germany. Park designer Jure Gradic and his crew will roll out a nice Jib setup at the badenova Snowpark Feldberg. Reveal your best tricks and take home nice goodies and prize money in a total value of 1,200 €.

Progression, bluebird, barbecue and brilliant vibes - last Saturday, the fourth Girls Shred Session of the season 2016/17 took place at the badenova Snowpark Feldberg. The day was a guarantee for strong progress and plenty of jib action for the #shredqueens in the Schwarzwald area.

Riders as far as you can see – and this was pretty far on this sunny Saturday at Axamer Lizum. An imposing amount of 99 freestylers battled for goodies and prize money at the Gold & Glory. This is not only a visitors record for the new Golden Roofpark, it also tops the numbers of competitors of the QParks Tour 16/17.
