Description: Mount Bachelor ski resort is a ski resort located in central Oregon, approximately 22 miles west of Bend, along the Century Drive Highway. The ski runs are on the northern face of Mount Bachelor, a stratovolcano built atop a volcanic shield in the Cascade Range. Since 2001, the ski area has been owned by Powdr Corporation of Park City, Utah. It is the largest ski resort by more than 1,000 acres in Oregon, the second largest single-mountain ski resort in the U.S., behind Vail, and the sixth largest of all ski resorts in the nation.

SHAKEDOWN RUN: A thousand mile snowboarding road trip by firetruck with Austin Smith The Snowboarder’s Journal and Nokian Tyres present Shakedown Run, a short film documenting the transformation and travels of Austin Smith’s 1953 GMC firetruck. During the winter of 2019-20, Austin redesigned his firetruck camper to be lighter, more efficient, and more roadworthy. We joined him in March for a trial run around Oregon—a thousand miles from Bend to Willamette Pass, Anthony Lakes, Mt. Hood, Hoodoo Ski Area and back home at Mt. Bachelor. Camping in the parking lot, he reconnects with the soul of snowboarding while minimizing distractions and maximizing his time on-hill.

KORUA Shapes – Rain Dogs – Yearning For Turning in the Pacific Northwest «RAIN DOGS» is a reference to Washington State’s “finest” Rainier Beer, which kept us hydrated during our road trip through the PNW in February of 2020 BC (Before Covid). It’s also a slight hint to the predominantly moist weather we experienced on our visit State-side. A trip where our rental car smelled like a pack of wet dogs 24/7, and even with rain so persistent it could soak through the toughest of Gore-Tex, it could not dampen our spirits or stop our mission to film Yearning For Turning in the Pacific North West. We had an absolute blast navigating the slopes of Baker, Crystal and Bachelor, linking turns on every type of snow imaginable, making new friends in the lift lines and down at the pub, eating day-old pizza from the tailgate in the parking lot, and drinking a couple «Rain Dogs» here and there. Collectively we tried our best to capture our turns in new surroundings, and are pretty darn surprised and happy with the outcome. Hope y’all enjoy it too!
