Was 2022 the BEST Year of Surfing? | BEST OF SURF 2022 What a year. 2022 was packed to the gills with everything the surfing world has to offer. Whether it be seemingly endless historic Teahupoo swells, world title chases or just good ole' free surfing, 2022 surely had a taste of it all. Not only did Teahupoo fire on all cylinders multiple times this year, but the WSL world tour stop featured nothing more than a spectacle, with local wild card Kauli Vaast securing his spot in the final heat. We can't forget moments from Kolohe Andino in New York, Leo Fioravanti at home in Italy or the rise of women's surfing phenom Caity Simmers qualifying for the 2023 tour. We can keep rambling on, but we think the video speaks for itself. Toss that popcorn in the microwave and settle in for the wild ride that was the Best of Surf in 2022.

Freakish Friday at Nazare We went reasonably mad on Friday, covering the largest swell of the very active season at Nazare as it unfolded. Ace drone filmer Tucker Wooding pulled together this amazing edit from his all-day affair at Portugal’s biggest, scariest a-frame. While watching, one thing becomes pretty clear pretty quick — the safest place to be at XXXL Nazare is probably in the air. Even the cliff looks sketchy.
