Yesterday (2nd Oct.), the biggest European AM Skate Contest Tour culminated with the Grande Finale in Innsbruck. 42 skaters (including 11 girls) competed for the title, prize money (Men & Women: 1st place 1000 €, 2nd place 750 € & 3rd place 500€) and a once in a lifetime chance to win the STS Skate sponsored winner trip to California.

With skaters coming from Argentina, Austria, France, Romania and of course Italy, the first edition of the Modena Rookie Fest showcased a great level of skateboarding, not only in the competition venue, but also during some street sessions. In fact the program of the event was not based only on a competition, but included as well a touristic visit of Modena city Center where several UNESCO heritage are located, Italian food experience, night session and street session with local guide and a professional media crew.

Competitors at the Modena Rookie Fest 2021 were also treated to some great street sessions in the city.

The ninth and penultimate tour stop of the Blue Tomato x Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe Tour took place last Saturday in the Skatehall Wels. A total of 34 riders from all around Austria and Germany came together to show their best tricks. In addition, there were Goodies & Cash 4 tricks presented by the Wels skate club at the end of the day.

After 8 successful tour stops this summer all across Europe, the Best Foot Forward Tour is slowly approaching its grand finale in the famous Innsbruck Skatehalle.

This is one of the last two qualifying tour stops on 2021 Blue Tomato X Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe tour before the big finals in Innsbruck on October 2: Tour stop #9 in Wels, Austria on September 4.

The eighth Blue Tomato x Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe stop took place last Saturday at Alaia Chalet in Lens, Switzerland. Surrounded by the majestic Swiss Alps, in the canton of Valais, the contest at Alaia Chalet was a very special one.

Yet another epic Simple Session crowned their kings of skate and BMX street. The skateboarding podium belonged to Ivan Monteiro (BRA), Rišo Tury (SVK), and Alex Decunha (UK). In BMX, the first three places were awarded to Broc Raiford (USA), Courage Adams (ESP), and Reed Stark (USA).

Ivan Monteiro earned the top spot on Simple Session 2021 podium, followed by Rišo Tury (L) with Silver and Alex Decunha with Bronze. Congrats!

Red Bull Paris Conquest delivered new obstacle layouts and fan pleasing tricks. Letícia Bufoni and Trevor McClung rolled out their best tricks to delight the raucous crowd right at the foot of the Eiffel Tower to win 2021's Red Bull Paris Conquest.

The seventh Blue Tomato x Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe stop took place last Saturday in Düsseldorf. In the largest skate park in Germany, the Skatepark Eller, a total of 86 skateboarders gathered to take part in the contest. That is a new tour record!

Düsseldorf stop on 2021 Blue Tomato x Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe Tour welcomed record numbers so far, 84 skaters took part on Saturday August 14 at Skatepark Eller.

The sixth Blue Tomato x Zumiez Best Foot Forward Europe stop took us to the beautiful Innsbruck city. The contest went down with 27 participants and some thrilled spectators in the Skatehalle Innsbruck, which is also known beyond the borders of Austria.

Szentendre Skatepark will be the first Hungarian skatepark to host World Rookie Tour's skateboarding event: Szentendre Rookie Fest 2021, August 14 - 15.

The thing most likely to linger in the memory from Men’s Park skateboarding final in Tokyo is not an image but a sound. The sheer speed of the skating in the final sessions was right on the edge of possibility, tribute not only to the skaters themselves but to innovations in park design which made the concrete sound as fast as riding on glass. The park construction was essentially perfect, and the skating sounded like a rocket ride thundering throughout it: fantastic and exhilarating.

Among everything written and said about skateboarding’s inclusion in the Olympics, there has certainly been a sense that whatever the real or imagined drawbacks might be, they didn’t apply to the nascent women’s scene.
