Reigning World Champion Carissa Moore (HAW) and Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA) have claimed victory at the Sydney Surf Pro, the first event of the 2020 WSL Challenger Series. The pair were standouts all event overcoming a world-class field in testing two-foot conditions at Manly Beach.

Mason Ho (HAW) emerged victorious today at the World Surf League (WSL) Air Tahiti Rangiroa Pro, a men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000, for his second QS victory in pumping conditions at the pristine reef break of Rangiroa. One of Hawaii’s most dynamic surfers went head-to-head with Maui, Hawaii’s, Eli Hanneman in the Final and the two put on a showcase of barrel-riding performances.

Taro Watanabe (USA) and Izzi Gomez (COL) claimed their respective maiden World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) wins in the SLO CAL Open at Morro Bay, a men’s and women’s QS 1,000, with clutch performances on finals day. Inconsistent, four-to-six foot surf powered its way into the Morro Rock lineup to test competitors’ patience and ability but Watanabe and Gomez rose to the challenge, taking down formidable fields en route to their first-ever WSL victories.

Hawaiian youngster Kelis Kaleopaa (HAW) and surfing icon Joel Tudor (USA) have seized historical victories at the Noosa Longboard Open, presented by Thomas Surfboards, the opening event of the 2020 World Surf League (WSL) Longboard Tour (LT). On what was the best day of conditions for the entire event, the pair overcame a field of reigning event winner’s and former world champions, to each take monumental wins in clean two-foot surf on Noosa Main Beach.

Ramzi Boukhiam (MAR) was victorious over Weslley Dantas (BRA) by a final score of 14.40 to 11.23 to take home the World Surf League (WSL) QS5000 Oi Hang Loose Pro Contest pres. by Eletron Energy at Cacimba do Padre in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil. The Moroccan was consistent throughout the week and was in complete sync with the waves on Finals Day, which included a Semifinals win over former event winner Jadson Andre (BRA). With today’s win, Boukhiam has jumped from 163rd to number 2 on the Qualifying Series rankings behind Wiggolly Dantas (BRA), who took the rankings lead with his Semifinals finish today.

The Nazaré Tow Surfing Challenge pres. By Jogos Santa Casa at Nazaré ran today in massive waves and provided non-stop action for six hours straight, showcasing the best Big Wave riders in the world at the unique arena of Praia do Norte, in Nazaré, Portugal.

Gaspard Larsonneur (FRA) and Pauline Ado (FRA) have won the QS1,500 Cabreiroá Pro Las Americas, claiming victory in the Finals against Jonathan Gonzalez (CNY) and Ariane Ochoa (EUK) held in wind-affected two-to-three foot surf at Las Américas.

After three flawless days of surf at Pipeline, the Volcom Pipe Pro, a World Surf League (WSL) Men's Qualifying Series (QS) 5,000, saw Wiggolly Dantas (BRA) win in powerful and challenging conditions on the fourth and final day to join the list of illustrious winners and take home his very first Pipeline victory. The Brazilian representation was strong as Dantas went against Joao Chianca (BRA) and Yago Dora (BRA) in the Final, who earned runner up and third place respectively, and Hawaiian, Seth Moniz (HAW).

Nat Young (USA) has won the first-ever QS5,000 Pro Taghazout Bay in historic fashion today, claiming victory in the Final bout against Alonso Correa (PER) held in pumping surf at the world famous Anchor Point.

Billy Kemper (HAW) claimed his second win today at the Sunset Open, a World Surf League (WSL) Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000 and the first regional Hawaii/Tahiti Nui event of 2020, in an action-packed Final against junior surfers Kauli Vaast (PYF) and Eli Hanneman (HAW) and fellow QS veteran Koa Smith (HAW). Exalted as one of the best weeks in his life, Kemper found success at Sunset today and also at Maui’s Pe‘ahi after riding the wave of his life just three days ago.

Brodi Sale (HAW) and Kirra Pinkerton (USA) earned their very first Hawaii victories at the Sunset Pro Junior today, the opening event of the 2020 season for the World Surf League (WSL) Hawaii/Tahiti Nui region, after controlling their respective 4-man finals with excellent positioning at Sunset Point and confident forehand surfing. This Men’s and Women’s 18 and under event runs in conjunction with the Sunset Open, a Men’s Qualifying Series (QS) 1,000, which will look to get underway this week as new NW swells begins to fill in along the North Shore.

Brisa Hennessy (CRI) and Shun Murakami (JPN) claimed respective wins at the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) Corona Open China hosted by Wanning, a men’s and women’s QS 5,000, in phenomenal fashion. The 2019 Championship Tour (CT) Rookie of the Year and 2020 provisional Olympian Hennessy continued to display a dominant backhand attack to overcome an in-form Vahine Fierro (FRA) in their Final showdown while Murakami picked apart the lineup to dismantle former CT competitor Keanu Asing (HAW) in a stout finish.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is pleased to announce that the 2020 AmpSurf ISA World Para Surfing Championship will take place in La Jolla, California from March 11-15. The fifth edition of the world championship event, previously named the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship, will gather the world’s best Para Surfers to compete and display their talents in a Paralympic-style, World Championship competition.

Denmark’s Bruno Hansen has won four Gold Medals in the AS-4 Division, looking to go for his fifth in 2020.

Italo Ferreira (BRA) is the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Champion after defeating his closest rival, Gabriel Medina (BRA), in a heated Final in six-to-eight foot (1.8 - 2.4 meter) waves at the 2019 Billabong Pipe Masters, the final stop on the Men’s WSL Championship Tour (CT) and third gem of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Ferreira is only the third Brasilian to win the World Title and Billabong Pipe Masters trophy and celebrated the double-win with an emotional chair up the beach to the awards stage.
