Partly because it’s our responsibility to provide new/upcoming/different shapers a platform to show their stuff (and occasionally grant them passage into Stab in the Dark). But mostly because the best boards often come from the most unlikely places. Enter Campbell Designed — an Australian surfboard brand based on the Sunshine Coast, run by the father-son duo of former pros Stuart (the elder) and Ryan (the younger) Campbell. Both of whom bloody tear. Unlike other mid-sized Australian board brands, Campbell Designed has no interest in what’s hip or trendy. As former competitors and outstanding surfers to this day, Stuart and Ryan’s focus is purely on performance. They make boards to rip upon. If that’s not your thing, no worries. Go do a highline on a quartz countertop.
