<div><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The sport never tires of telling stories of overcoming, which makes it even more passionate. And Florianópolis witnessed two more this Sunday (04/02), in the finals of the Street modality in the opening stage of the STU National 2024. In the men's division, the champion was <strong>Ivan Monteiro</strong>, from São Paulo, who won by doing the same maneuver that caused a fracture in a bone in his arm five months ago and led him to rethink his future. Among the girls, the title for <strong>Carla Karolina</strong>, from Alagoas, who said she needed to innovate to strengthen her level of skateboarding.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Ivan Monteiro's injury to the radius of his left arm happened in Switzerland in September last year, in an Olympic qualifier, in training on the eve of the competition. There he performed a surgery, in which he placed a plate and a screw that he still has today. He claims to have started skating again until a little before his time, six weeks later, at the Recife stage of the STU National, in November. The following month, he competed in another stage of the Street World Championship, in Japan. All doubts hung in the air at that moment.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">"It's an injury that puts you down, you start to question yourself, especially when you're coming back, at a lower level than you did before. I came back a little early, I know that, it was still bad and any bump in my hand hurt. I had no strength, the bone was still fragile. Still, I stared to pull myself up. After Recife, came Tokyo, and I couldn't get my tricks right either. You convince yourself that you're fine, but it's not so. I went so as not to get frustrated and I ended up getting frustrated," Ivan said.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">Frustration that practically came to an end this Sunday. In a performance worthy of a very high-level skateboarder, he showed on the first lap that he has no hand or any other obstacle that makes him stop anymore. With a score of 84.27, he was already sure that it would be very difficult to make another better one and even to be surpassed by the five other finalists, for the perfection of the maneuvers and movements. And there was no other way. Runner-up to <strong>João Lucas Alves</strong>, known as Xuxu, and third place to <strong>Wallace Gabriel</strong>, the best of the day before.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">"I knew it would be very difficult to make a better line than the one I did on the first lap. Either way, you try to come up with something that will catch the judges' attention more. I got everything I had trained right and even tried others that I wasn't training. I knew I had done my best as soon as I stepped on the track for the first time. For everything I've been through, I have to value this result here in Floripa a lot, even more so making the line that gave me the title with the same maneuver that I broke my arm", he concluded.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">In the women's category, Carla Karolina was also impeccable. Just like Ivan Monteiro, still without knowing it, he also secured the title on his first lap. What she herself claims to have been an overcoming in her way and style of skateboarding. More focused, even more experienced, she didn't give a chance for external factors to get in the way of what she was focused on and ready to do. The result of a lot of training, he admits. Which may even be jargon in the sport, because everyone there also trains incessantly, but this time she didn't let it slip away.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">"I've trained a lot in the last few days to start the year in the best way. Getting my first lap right was perfect for me. I even took the opportunity to innovate a little, sending maneuvers that I had never done before in other championships. So, I definitely outdid myself. This new rink is very wide, I like to ride on tracks like this, because I can enjoy my skateboard more, going faster. And the level of all of them was pretty high, which pulled me in even more. I hope to stay well to continue showing my best skateboarding," said Carla Karolina, champion with a score of 62.16.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The STU National of Florianópolis had the master sponsorship of Banco BV, one of the largest banks in the country, and was sponsored by the City of Florianópolis and Monster Energy. Eletromídia and Altermark were the official partners, with Drop Dead and Associação Brasileira de Paraskate as supporters. The event is approved by CBSk, the Brazilian Skateboarding Confederation.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">FINAL RESULT - MEN'S STREET</div><div><br /></div><div>1º – Ivan Monteiro – 84,27</div><div>2º – João Lucas Alves – 77,75</div><div>3º – Wallace Gabriel – 75,88</div><div>4º – Kalani Konig – 73,43</div><div>5º – Sebastian Simonetto – 62,59</div><div>6º – Gabriel Fortunato – 60,16</div><div><br /></div><div>FINAL RESULT - WOMEN'S STREET</div><div><br /></div><div>1º – Carla Karolina – 62,16</div><div>2º – Isabelly Ávila – 60,53</div><div>3º – Rafaela Murbach – 60,31</div><div>4º – Kemily Suiara – 58,17</div><div>5º – Maria Lúcia Rocha – 50,93</div><div>6º – Viviane Orlando – 39,81</div>
