<div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The event resumed in picture-perfect longboarding conditions with long and soft waves in a glassy lineup before the wind picked up a little bit in the afternoon.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Edouard Delpero Continues to Dominate European Longboarding</strong> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">Since his older brother's retirement from competition, <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Riders/edouard-delpero" target="_blank">Edouard Delpero</a></strong> (FRA) has been the undeniable king of European surfing, winning today his fourth regional title by claiming the Longboard Pro Espinho in spectacular fashion. The Frenchman, a former runner-up in the world, posted excellent scores (above 8 points) in each of his four heats en route to victory in Portugal.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> "It's my third event in Espinho and I've been lucky to win all of them so far," Delpero stated. "I'm glad to share that Final with Benoit, there were some new French surfers competing too and it was great to see new faces and people coming from far away."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> In the Final, Delpero defeated compatriot <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Riders/benoit-carpentier" target="_blank">Benoit Carpentier</a></strong> (FRA), who reached his first Final on The WSL tours in his third year competing at the European level.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> "I've been coming here for three years and always got stuck in the Semis so I'm happy to make the Final this time," Carpentier said. "Edouard is clearly on another planet so I was just happy to share the Final with him. Longboarding is not my main focus, but competing against him and watching him surf definitely gives me things to think about how to improve my own surfing. I love coming here, the city gets better every year and waves are always good." </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Lemoigne Wins 6th and Quickest European Title of Her Career</strong> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;">While it has in the past taken up to three, four or five events to secure a regional title on the Old Continent, exceptional conditions this year made this lone event the decider. Coming in the top seed in this event and with an odd number of surfers enlisted, <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Riders/alice-lemoigne" target="_blank">Alice Lemoigne</a></strong> (FRA) did not have an opponent in her Quarterfinal and only surfed two heats to victory and sixth regional longboard title.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> "I'm super happy to win the European title a sixth time," Lemoigne said. "The conditions were super hard in the final so I'm happy to win it and congratulations to all the girls. I'm just really thankful to be able to compete again and I really want to thank all the people involved in making this event happen."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> In a wave-starved, remake of last year's Final, Lemoigne defeated good friend <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Riders/zoe-grospiron" target="_blank">Zoe Grospiron</a></strong> (FRA) who confirmed her status of up-and-coming talent on the European longboard scene.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> "That Final was really tough but I really enjoyed competing here again," Grospiron said. "It's nice to finally do this again, I've been spending a lot more time studying than surfing this year and it's fun to put on the jersey again. I'm a little bit disappointed with my performance in the Final but I'll be back to try and win one."</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;">The crowning of the Longboard winners today marked the culmination of an epic week of surfing in Espinho, starting on Tuesday with the best juniors from the continent battling it out in picture-perfect waves. The event even witnessed a historic performance by French surfer <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Riders/kauli-vaast" target="_blank">Kauli Vaast</a></strong> who posted a <strong><a href="https://worldsurfleague.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=9c75f4cf1e19118d57c2f963e&id=30b1614db5&e=2ee39f75b0" target="_blank">perfect 20.00 heat</a></strong> in his Quarterfinal bout before going all the way to victory on Friday. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>LONGBOARD PRO ESPINHO MEN'S FINAL RESULT:</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> 1 - Edouard Delpero (FRA) 16.67</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> 2 - Benoit Carpentier (FRA) 9.30</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>LONGBOARD PRO ESPINHO WOMEN'S FINAL RESULT:</strong></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> 1 - Alice Lemoigne (FRA) 8.67</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> 2 - Zoe Grospiron (FRA) 7.37</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> Catch up on all things Longboard Pro Espinho with news, photos and videos on <strong><a href="https://www.worldsurfleague.com/" target="_blank">WorldSurfLeague.com</a></strong>.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><em>The Surf Pro Espinho is organized by Câmara Municipal de Espinho, GPDESIGN Brand Communication and Rios e Trilhos, sponsored by McDonalds, Pedras, Vitalis, Somersby with the additional support of Castros Iluminações, Padaria Pepim, Comercial Tec, MEO, Ereserv PumpTrack, Terra Viva, Solverde, TNPublicidade, LBM, and media partners SurfTotal, BeachCam, Mega Hits, Onfire as well as Defesa de Espinho.</em> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: justify;"> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><strong>About the WSL</strong> </div><div style="text-align: justify;"> The <strong><a href="https://www.boardriding.com/Associations/World-Surf-League" target="_blank">World Surf League</a></strong> (WSL), established in 1976, is the home of surfing.
