The Rip Curl GromSearch National Final saw six new national champions crowned today following a handful of exciting finals in playful two-foot wedges at Woonona Beach.

Milli Allport (Shelly Beach, NSW) won the 16 Girls division at the Rip Curl GromSearch Australian National Final, at Woonona Beach, Woonona, New South Wales, Australia, on January 16, 2020.

Brisa Hennessy (CRI) and Shun Murakami (JPN) claimed respective wins at the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) Corona Open China hosted by Wanning, a men’s and women’s QS 5,000, in phenomenal fashion. The 2019 Championship Tour (CT) Rookie of the Year and 2020 provisional Olympian Hennessy continued to display a dominant backhand attack to overcome an in-form Vahine Fierro (FRA) in their Final showdown while Murakami picked apart the lineup to dismantle former CT competitor Keanu Asing (HAW) in a stout finish.

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is pleased to announce that the 2020 AmpSurf ISA World Para Surfing Championship will take place in La Jolla, California from March 11-15. The fifth edition of the world championship event, previously named the ISA World Adaptive Surfing Championship, will gather the world’s best Para Surfers to compete and display their talents in a Paralympic-style, World Championship competition.

Denmark’s Bruno Hansen has won four Gold Medals in the AS-4 Division, looking to go for his fifth in 2020.

The 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) season has come to a close with Carissa Moore (HAW) claiming a fourth World Title and Italo Ferriera (BRA) earning his first, and the elite class of surfers has been set for 2020.

Italo Ferreira (BRA) is the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Champion after defeating his closest rival, Gabriel Medina (BRA), in a heated Final in six-to-eight foot (1.8 - 2.4 meter) waves at the 2019 Billabong Pipe Masters, the final stop on the Men’s WSL Championship Tour (CT) and third gem of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Ferreira is only the third Brasilian to win the World Title and Billabong Pipe Masters trophy and celebrated the double-win with an emotional chair up the beach to the awards stage.

The 2020 World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) is set to commence at the perfect lefthander of Riyue Bay on the Island of Hainan, China, for the Corona Open China hosted by Wanning.

Today, Carissa Moore (HAW) won the 2019 World Surf League (WSL) Title at the lululemon Maui Pro, the final stop on the WSL Women’s Championship Tour (CT). Moore’s victory comes following her provisional qualification for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Although she defeated her closest opponent, 17-year-old Caroline Marks (USA), to clinch her fourth World Title, the two will represent America together as surfing makes its Olympic debut in Tokyo next year.

Jack Robinson (AUS) earned an exalted victory today at the Vans World Cup of Surfing with the best Final heat total in Sunset Beach history and claimed the last spot on the World Surf League (WSL) Men’s 2020 Championship Tour (CT) by way of the Qualifying Series (QS). The second event of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and final WSL QS competition of the year, Robinson earned 10,000 points to surge from No. 22 on the QS to No. 5 and edge out runner-up Ezekiel Lau (HAW) from CT requalification. Robinson will join the world’s best for his very first run on the dream tour.

Amuro Tsuzuki and Lucas Vicente have claimed the 2019 World Surf League Junior Championship at the Taiwan Open of Surfing. The final day of competition saw the best junior surfers in the world tested in solid and unruly six-to-eight foot surf at Jinzun Harbour as the cream rose to the top on a historic day of competition. The pair overcame tough opposition in Californian duo Alyssa Spencer and Kade Matson in their respective finals.

Portugal’s Frederico Morais (PRT) won the Hawaiian Pro today with sure-footed power surfing and a veteran edge over Leonardo Fioravanti (ITA), Matthew McGillivray (ZAF) and Ethan Ewing (AUS) who placed second, third and fourth respectively in the Final at Haleiwa Ali’i Beach. Today’s victory cements Morais’ status back on the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT) and the lead on the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing title race. The Hawaiian Pro is the second-to-last Men’s WSL Qualifying Series (QS) 10,000 event and first gem of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, which now moves to Sunset Beach for the Vans World Cup of Surfing.

17 months ago, two-time World Surf League (WSL) Champion Tyler Wright (AUS) fell ill in South Africa. Temporarily hospitalized, Wright was forced to pull out of the Corona Open J-Bay and was diagnosed with Influenza A with complications that sidelined her from competition since.

2x World Champion Tyler Wright (AUS) will compete in the lululemon Maui Pro, which opens this Monday, November 25, 2019.

Isabella Nichols (AUS) has clinched her first major World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) win, taking out the 2019 Port Stephens Toyota Pro presented by Sisstrevolution QS6,000 at Birubi Beach. Nichols took down fellow Australian Macy Callaghan (AUS) in the 35-minute final where the two went toe-to-toe in clean three-to-four foot waves for the last WSL Women’s QS event of the 2019 season.

Two South American Titles for WSL Latin America were decided today at the 2019 Oi Pro Junior Series in Maresias, Brazil. Tainá Hinckel (BRA) won her second regional Pro Junior crown and Piccolo Clemente (PER) won an astonishing 4th regional Longboard title by advancing to the Semifinals on Saturday.
