If you missed the radness that went down, there were entries using items such as old pallets, cork and a SUP - all excellent examples of creating cool shred weapons while at the same time caring for the environment. You can catch up and read about it here.

The king of this innovative contest was winner Taylor Lane, who got together with beach clean up groups to collect the 10,000 ciggy butts that went into making his board. It's quite a statement piece as you can see in the clip below.

In the couple of months since, the board has created a storm on the internet and in news pieces around the globe. It has a certain element of horror that leaves people wide-eyed and uncomfortable, and paired with the eco vibe it's proved a winning combo.

Using the up-swing of interest, Taylor has teamed up with filmer Ben Judkins to take this to a whole new level. The pair are planning to use the board to make a documentary to get people thinking about keeping our world clean, with the focus on finding ways to keep our oceans and beaches pure. They will interview individuals and organisations around the world and get international surfers to test out the board too. Such a film would be greatly welcomed by the surfing world and, given the previous interest, could well have the power to reach out to the wider masses too. It deserves our attention.

Hop on over to Indiegogo to see their battle plan. You shouldn't need an incentive to get behind this gem of an idea but the perks for helping make this happen include digital downloads, t-shirts and premiere tickets, among others.

These guys have an attention-grabbing creation and want to make an impact. With a bit of support they could open up many more eyes to the plight of our seas and personal responsibilities - especially those who currently think nothing of flicking their butts.
