Here’s the lowdown on the basic terms to help get you newbies started.
The following links go into waaaay more depth, but actual shredding is gonna help you feel part of the scene much faster than being able to talk the talk without being able to ride the pow... So get out there!
Regular - To ride with your left foot forward and right foot back.
Goofy - To ride with your right foot forward and left foot back.
Switch - To ride with the opposite foot forward to your normal stance.
Duck foot - To set your bindings so that both feet are pointing out.
Centre - To set your bindings centrally with the same distance between nose and tail. This makes it easier to ride switch.
Setback - To set your bindings 'back' slightly so that there is more space between your front binding and the nose of your board. Good for freeriding.
Freeriding - Backcountry riding in natural pow.
Jibbing - When you ride on objects such as trees, benches and tables.
