Heading down your local skatepark the first few times? Last thing you wanna do is end up being viewed as a total douche.
The key is gonna be sticking to the skate rules! But what exactly are they? This can be a bit of a prob for beginners – a lot of this stuff is unspoken skate knowledge and takes time to build up... Guessing you wanna avoid learning the hard way though? Right?!
Well, here’s a little beaut of a clip from Spensor Nuzzi at Ride. Very smooth… for all you noobs!
Still feeling a little nervous about taking the plunge? Then this longer clip is a good combo for first timers. It explains etiquette along with pointing out some of the park features you’ll be wishing you could ride.
If you’re considering starting the whole downhill thing, then there’s some useful info here on how to not skate and annoy! www.skateslate.com/blog/2014/08/05/skateboarders-guide-proper-downhill-etiquette/
If you really want to avoid hassle, then a good tip is to get there super early to avoid the crush. Then when you wanna move things up a gear and start trying things like rail grinds, you’ll have more time and space. It rocks not to feel pressured… and sucks if you’re in some other dudes way – especially if it looks like they could easily wipe you out in a game of Skate!
Lastly follow your heroes! Check your fav pro riders and watch them nail sick tricks here.
